The AUTOMOTIVE Conference Rulz
------------------------------
Just a note on the 'Car Wars' that almost always comes up in
the discussion of anything automotive. The bashing of any
manufacturer or make of automobile is inevitable and, I guess
acceptable, but don't make a big deal about it. Life goes on
and someone's choice of basic transportation, race car or a fan
of another manufacturer, is their own bag.
I don't care if you drive American iron and hate Jap junk or
you drive Japanese perfection and think everything else is
crap, just don't bash the guy who owns something you don't
like. By the same token, don't be put off by someone who
doesn't like your choice, that's life.
We're here to discuss our automotive common interests and help
each other with problems when they come up. Let's keep it
friendly and help those who come along, asking for our help.
With that, here are the rules;
1. Keep to the topic. I know we are all people and will
occasionally get bent out of shape with some off topic
conversations from time to time. (who was it that was having
a Howitzer conversation in here...) Please keep these off
topic threads short and sweet.
The topic IS anything AUTOMOTIVE, but, I'm open minded enough
that, if you can tie whatever else into the world of cars and
anything automotive, I usually won't say anything. Motorcycle
discussions are welcome. This echo is not just for 1/4 mile
automobiles.
2. Cars and profanity sometimes go hand in hand in the real world.
However, this was Pummill's World and he asked that profanity
be kept to a BARE minimum.
3. If someone asks a "stupid" question, do NOT flame them or you
will get REAL nasty netmail from me. The idea is to bring
MORE people into the world of automotive knowledge, not drive
them away with snide comments. If you cannot say anything nice
then keep the fingers away from the Reply key.
4. You may post 'personal' items for sale here. If someone asks if
anyone else has an automotive item for sale, -anyone- (personal
or commercial, whether in fidonet on the WWW or owns, manages a
store, etc.), may post a reply to it. If you have a commercial
text file all set up for that, so beit.
N: 5. I reserve the right to alter the rules as is deemed necessary on
N: on the fly, due to changes in the atmosphere of the echo.
N: Arguing a moot point of contention to prove you're right, no
N: matter what, does not give you the right to do so in the echo.
N: That is what netmail and email are for. You will receive only
N: one warning before you're issued walking papers for this violation..
N: Typing in all CAPS is not considered to be proper etiquette and
N: very rude in the moderator's opinion, as is extra punctuation marks
N: and will not be tollerated unless done so in a friendly manner.
N: In any case you will receive a slap on the hand by the moderator in
N: the echo if you do so.
6. This echo may not be gated out of Fidonet in any shape, form,
or fashion without the moderators consent.
7. These rules are a living document and I reserve the right to
change them as I see necessary.
8. Fidonet Zone 2 Sysops and users, take note;
It has come to the attention of this moderator that an echomail
policy, specifically EchoPol 1 and hereafter referred to as EP1,
is in force in Zone 2.
Be advised that this echomail policy is not binding in Zone 1,
nor this echo. Zone 2 Sysops, by posting in this echo hereby
forfeit any rights of protection provided under the auspices of
EchoPol 1.
If Z2 BBS's who carry this echo differ in their opinion of EP1 and
that of this echo's moderator, I suggest that you not carrry this
echo on your BBS. If you're a Z2 participant of this echo and your
opinion of EP1 differs from that of the moderator of this echo, I
suggest that you not participate in this echo.
And now, the "teeth":
As your Moderator, I would like to confine my moderatorial
C: duties to updating the echolistings as required; I do not wish
to spend a great deal of time "keeping order."
Disruptions, abusiveness or violations of the rules will be
dealt with by the Moderator only, in a manner he deems most
fit.
Questions? Problems? I read and answer netmail and email,
the address is posted above. Having said that, all it really
takes to enjoy this echo can be said in a few words:
Be nice to each other and have fun here.
