We finally found the valve to input some more freon this afternoon
and all it needed was a can. Everything working well, now.

How many pounds of pressure is that one can good for? One can
brings my Z28 up to just over the minimum.

The ace mechanic we had put it in (I never could find that valve
because it was under the washer jar reservoir), but now that I know
where it is, I can do it myself. Anyway, he said it could have held
a little more, but felt it wasn't worth opening another can because
of the small amount needed.

Did you read where they were mandating another Chjenge to the
Refigerant used in Automobiles. Some one decided that the R-134a was
also polluting too much and have come up with a revised formulation, HFO1234yf.
GM plans to start using it in soem of their 2013 Models.
They thought about using CO2 for a while but it requires verty high
head pressures so it was not selected. IT does make a nice refigerant though.
teh Refigerant is expensive, about $3000 for a 20 LB tank and it
requires a totaly NEW recharge and recovery unit for the shop at
$2000 to $3000

This is when it's nice to have a 5 gallon jug of freon with a
on/off valve in it. But who among us could afford to buy that jug
and keep it in the garage for the next time?

Not I, sayeth the New Orleans native. (-:
I priced a barrel for my 1911A1 Colt .45 a short while ago and it's
$180! I was looking for an extra barrel without groves so I can fire
my shotgun loads with it.

It'd have to be chambered for a 3"er...that means about 3 3/8"
chamber size, then smooth bore for the rest of the barrel. Or are
you thinking of a 'special' shot shell? Next would be the 'rim' on
the shot shell. Not exactly 45 clip friendly.
Why not just buy some snake shot ammo for it?
I know its a Taurus, but they already sell a revolver chambered
(The Judge) for what you're asking a .45 to do.

The rounds I have are Colt .45 Auto casings, but instead of a 230
grain FMJ slug, have what you'd call snake shot. That would ruined a groved barrel if too many rounds were fired through it.

Taurus maufactured a Colt SAA look-alike I was interested in, but no
one seems to have them in stock with a 7" barrel. It wasn't a Colt,
so I didn't strian myself loooking.
