So are you here on retro equipment?

I have been gone on business to Kuwait for 14 months, and while I was able to get on the BBSs a little bit from thee (with telnet being blocked on and off on
the base I was stationed) and a little bit on the two R&Rs, my BBS traffic has been limited.

So it was nice to get home, and take a long hard look at my Atari 800 setup.

A setup you can see on my facebook page at:

    https://www.facebook.com/DoctorClu

People have asked me how I got such a awesome domain name. I have been on Facebook since 2007. :)

So took a long look at the Atari 800 setup and asked myself what I really liked
in a system. Well first off there was this 32" flatscreen that I found mostly working in Kuwait that all I had to do was ship home. It made the trip so cool.

So added that to the setup. Got the Speedier working so I can do 19.2K instead of the 9600 baud... check.

And then tinkered with the Lantronix UDS10 to get the internet connection working with the Atari 800. Another check.

So that is the setup I am using to get here, and I plan to check the BBSs a lot
    more often.

So how about you. Got any pictures of your setup? What changes have you added to your setup?

I too use a Lantronics. It is great! I used to just connect to a Linux box via serial cable but that never felt like I was actually using what ever retro computer as more than a terminal.

I've got several old computers (Tandy, Apple, Atari etc.) that I rotate through using. Right now I've got an Atari Mega ST2 and an Apple IIgs set up.
I'm using the IIgs to post this (via the Lantronics).

Just got a CFFA (compat flash card) yesterday too. The IIgs really needed that
(or any hard drive setup) to use it to its fullest potential. Anyway, now that
I have that set up and my comms program set up I will be checking the BBS scene
more often than I have been lately.

Is your 800 an original or XL?

    Regards,
    Doug
