• unlocked software from Mountain Software

From Doug Mccomber@1:255/36 to All on Fri Apr 20 17:53:09 2012
    Hi everyone,

I have some great news from Mountain Software. I contacted them about registering Mountain Reader II and Anthony Watson wrote back sending me an attachment with an unlocked copy of all his ST software. Naturally I then asked him if he'd mind if I shared it with the Atari community. Here is his reply:

Sure, that would be fine. Just understand I am no longer supporting those applications, though I would still enjoy hearing from anyone who uses them.  I would also appreciate if you could include links to my current web sites:

    www.homecookinrecipesoftware.com
    www.mountain-software.com

So I have done as he asked here and in FILE_ID.DIZ files. The programs have been uploaded to my bbs (Files->Atari ST->Communications and Applications) and the Darkforce bbs (Files->Telecommunications and General). You don't need to register an account with my bbs to download the files (not sure about Darkforce). Telnet to theville.vintagecomputing.net or darkforce-bbs.dyndns.org

Mountain Reader II is in the file m_reader.zip

The Recipe Box is in the file recipe.zip

Mountain Software Shareware Bundle is in the file bundle.zip and contains the following programs:

    TUZZLE.TOS
    NUMBERS.TOS
    EZ_MONEY.TOS
    MTN_VIEW.TOS
    MANUAL.TOS
    PEN_PAL.TOS
    MOVIES.TOS
    EZ_BASE.TOS
    EASY_GO.TOS

If you re-distribute these files please respect Anthony Watson's wishes and include the quote and links. On behalf of the Atari community I want to publicly thank Mr. Watson for sharing his work with us. It is always greatly appreciated when an author from the glory days of the ST shares their software with current Atari faithful.

    Regards,
    Doug

Well I'd heard of others doing the same and thought why not. And there you go, it worked out for everyone.

I thought so. Never hurts to ask and in this case it paid off. From what I've
read around the Net, this type of response is the norm from authors. The real problem usually lies in tracking them down or when the author no longer owns the copyright but some now defunct company does.
