• Dialing Strings in Radius?

From Kurt Weiske@1:218/700 to All on Tue Jun 2 23:05:32 2015

I dug up a modem and have tested calling out to some other nodes; it's nice hearing those tones again!

I tried calling an international number and Radius only dials the number in the nodelist. I'll need to figure out a way to stuff digits in for international calls and lop off the local area code before dialing.

FD and Binkleyterm used to compile dialing information into the nodelist; how can I modify the numbers in Radius' nodelist to reflect the number to be dialed?

:) I envy you. Alas, there is no longer a modem hooked up.

I tried calling an international number and Radius only dials the
number in the nodelist. I'll need to figure out a way to stuff digits
in for international calls and lop off the local area code before
    dialing.

It's been a long time since my Radius was used for POTS. I think it's only ever called _once_, and that was an accidental call to the Ukraine. :)

    the number to be dialed?

Have a look at Radius' Config-->Nodelist-->Phones(tab). That's where you can do some pattern matching and changes. If your help system works in Radius, then use that. Mine only has some pattern changes to reflect dialing in Z3, and some others to prevent dialing weird '000' style numbers.

    Cheers,
    Paul.

    Hi Kurt,

I know what you mean there :)

I tried calling an international number and Radius only dials the number in th
nodelist. I'll need to figure out a way to stuff digits in for international calls and lop off the local area code before dialing.

Since Radius is a clone of Argus (from the same source code, i.e.,) you should be able to accomplish this in the Dialing Properties Screen.

You can see this screen and more information you need in the Argus tutorial here http://www.filegate.net/zone1/ar-index.html. I just did a search on my page for modem and found it there where you can set information for Argus/Radius to use with LD numbers, etc.

    Hope this helps :)

    Take care,
    Janis
