• Adding a new AKA

From Björn Felten@2:203/2 to All on Thu Dec 4 02:33:09 2014
So, I wanted to add a new AKA. I obviously added it under Ctrl-T and then the AKA menu since it's an IP only AKA.

But that didn't change anything. It seems I have to add it in the Station ->
'Station list' cell. Seriously? Is this the same for the Argus children too?

My guess is that Michiel used an AKA that was not configured for your new AKA.
AKA, a comedy of errors. Don't give up on it.

Both of my test nodes only ever see my two main AKAs. Never the R54C one, through the use of that AKA menu grid. AAMOF, Michiel's system only sees the R54C AKA if & when his system calls with his FTSC AKA.

    Cheers,
    Paul.

He shouldn't have to. My new entry (2:203/1) was taken from the latest daily
Z2 nodelist, it should be available without anybody changing anything.

So it seems, yes. But how hard can it be to have the mailer change the AKA list properly when it has an AKA setting?

Nah, I think I'll actually give up on this crappy piece of software, and rather try making a GUI for binkd. It seems to be the easiest way to get a proper IP system for FTN.

An afterthought: I recommend that you get into the habit of cycling the TCP/IPdaemon off, before you make any changes & on, after any changes. It has an effect similar to 'Apply' in some Windows' dialogue boxes.

    Don't shoot me; it's just a recommendation.

    Cheers,
    Paul.

No worries mate, I always do that.
