• limiting timeout polls

From Kurt Weiske@1:218/700 to All on Tue Oct 29 12:24:54 2013
I'm using RADIUS 4.011; when I try to poll a system that's unreachable, RADIUS polls over and over again, until I pause the poll.

One system just polled 112 times. And counting.

In Config->Polls->Options, I have Busy, No C. and Fail all set to 10.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    I'm running "Radius v4.010/21.01.2005,13:56(Final-Release)" here.

I'm not really sure that running Radius gives you the right to post here. 8-)

Nah, just kidding, this is more of an attempt to make sure that you are still connected, after the recent disconnection from the echo. Now that we're on Fidoweb, all should be fine.

Well, I've just increased my Radius' "Stand-Off minutes" option setting from 10 up to 25. That might stop the log file filling up so much. Who knows. :)

I've been experimenting quite a lot with those settings, but eventually decided to let it go. Yes, having log files that grows into hundreds of megabyte made my old DOS/10MB_HD/2400_modem gut squirm, but eventually I woke up and realized where we are ATM.

    Smartie. :)

Yes, thanks muchly. I don't know what happened here. It may have just been a local glitch but that's ancient history now.

Same here, with the experimentation. I've upped the "Stand-Off minutes" to 59 minutes now and it's so much better. I'm tempted to make the two nodes currently set un-dialable, to start polling them again.

    Cheers,
    Paul.

It is a hassle. However you get the same sort of thing even with a bare binkD task.

In Config->Polls->Options, I have Busy, No C. and Fail all set to 10.

Same here except for Busy, which is set for 99. (I also have a couple of nodes

set to never poll; one in Poland, and the other in Canada.)

    Does anyone have any suggestions?
