Any recommendations for anti-virus software that would run on DOS?
The only two viable solutions that I know of are both unsupported, obsolete and
only accept old, expired Signature data files: F-Prot A/V and McAfee ScanPM, both of which can be found on the net for download, including my site.
I scan some abandoned, old packages with ScanPM from Mcafee using an old set of
signatures, but they would only have older infections anyway, if anything. ScanPM is available from my web site at:
http://cmech.dynip.com/filebase.bbs/virus/eng-4400.zip
and F-Prot (same folder) as fp-316f.zip, as well as obsolete versions of other packages that may or may not still work, just have to try. {chuckle}
There are some current, updated & bootable A/V solutions that will scan FAT and
NTFS drives, but I'm not familiar with them enough to recommend anything. :)
As always, common sense on what you download and install is the best policy IMHO :)
