    I suppose so - I haven't used any bare-metal DOS alternatives lately, but I swear by DOSBOX. I could set up DOS in a VM, but copying files to/from the
    VM is a pain. With DOSBOX, I can copy files directly to/from the host filesystem.

    Just don't be using a screen reader with dosbox or you'll be hosed.
    Microsoft word for dos never did work with dos screen readers.

    It does have some funky serial bits - I can fire up an old DOS terminal
    program and type in ATDT<hostname> and have it connect via telnet like you
    were going through a modem.
