• what is this?

From mark lewis@1:3634/12 to all on Mon Sep 2 21:26:13 2013

what does the last sequence of characters in the following PIDs signify?

    PID: ALLFIX+ 6.00.18 EFF59863
    PID: ALLFIX/2+ 6.00.18 A397509A

is it supposed to be a MSGID serial number or is it some kind of registration number?

the reason i ask is because i'm seeing some allfix v6.0 announcements in my dupes area... none of them have MSGIDs... however, my allfix 5.13 does generate
proper MSGIDs and it also has similar numbers to the above on the PID line...

thanks for any help with this!

It is not MSGID. I think it is some kind of 'serial' number and it will identify the system. My Allfix/2 seems to put every time the same string there,
but with the exactly same setup the UNI version puts different one.

I also noticed that if Allfix creates announces into msgbase, it will not put MSGID's there. However, when it creates announces as .PKT's, it will put MSGID's ok.

I think this is ok because it is tossers job to create MSGID's when sending messages out.

that's what i thought after a little more looking... so then the question is why is the new allfix 6 not generating MSGID lines like allfix 5 does?

that's not right... MSGIDs should be created in both cases...

incorrect... it is the job of the posting or message creation tool to create the MSGIDs... message tossers should not be creating or altering MSGIDs...
