I know what you mean. Unless you are in a life
threatening situation (heart attack, massive bleeding,
etc.) you won't get seen too quickly... unless they're not
    real busy.

'Round here, the closing to that last sentence is preposterous. With public health care, I'm sure they see their share of stubbed toes. When I had my last allergic reaction to a wasp sting, they had me plumbed up in five minutes, but when I'm just there to see if I'm anemic from post-op internal bleeding, there should be a station set up to draw the juice three steps from the taxi stand instead of everyone chasing everyone else looking for a patient that refused treatment four hours earlier and didn't bother telling anyone.

Over a 2 week period in June, I had 4 trips to an area Emergency
Room, and ended up having emergency kidney stone removal surgery.
Then, I had to spend the week afterwards in a recliner
chair at my Mom's place, because of a stint and catheter I
had to wear for a week. Already being fully disabled since
2004, that lack of movement (and sleep) made it
worse...but, I'd rather deal with arthritis pain, than a
    kidney stone attack!!

I can only imagine! Things are back to a dull roar then?

Have to agree on this one. There really should be a way for people to strike
back at people who steal identities, zap money, etc. My wife had $40 stolen from her account, but because it was not greater than $50 they could not turn over the information of who used the account, only that it had been turned over
    to the authorities.
That simply is not good enough to me. I don't care if it cost more to persecute, I want that person to experience PAIN.

Stealing from people should not be a slap on the wrist, and right now I think

Don't give it a second thought. What follows are my three unwritten
rules for any echo I moderate:

    1. No discussion about politics
    2. No discussion about religion
    3. No bad language or personal attacks.

I am flexible on all but the last one.

    Sounds like good rules. :)

Thanks. I like to keep things simple.

    Simple and fairly standard.

But religion and politics make for like 85% of the conversations in the world.
    What will we talk about?

Oh, the remaining 15%... the Weather. :P

Then that is really sad. That presumes that no one has a personal lfe, i.e., a
job, a family, people we care about, how long one has been associated with Fidonet, what hobbies one has, etc. None of that has anything to do with the weather, politics or religion.

    Hi James,

Did you expect anything else? <g>

hahahaha.. at least it's good for a laugh <grin>

... Being the "best" medicine. <PULEASE!>

There is that.. though all it does is make me spill my coffee <bg>

Indeed :) Well, in the cooking echo I posted the results of this
encounter with Aetna, not sure if you caught that. It's been shipped
to me, should be here tomorrow afternoon.

And didn't make it here until _yesterday_ <grin> Aetna has their own pharmacy that ships the drug.. and they are just so effecient (not).

    I had to battle
Aetna over the copay amount since the woman I spoke with at
the company that makes Ampyra told me to make sure I only
paid a $40.00 copay.. and of course Aetna's rep tried to
    tell me it was
    $50.00 :)

Ah well.. it better work after all this nonsense <vbg>

We just found out a serial killer was receiving a government pension and old age security payments whist incarcerated. Because his room and board is payed by us taxpayers, his "take home pay" is *all* gravy.

That is truly sick if true :(

I struggle with the solace that he is where he will die, but this arse is in a
better income bracket than I am, being on a government disability pension for about as long as he has been locked up.

My understanding is that if one is incarcerated, one doesn't receive those gov't checks... I could be wrong though.

    Take care,
    Janis

but they are so good at doing just that.. Lol.

Erecting hurdles, or wearing concealing dark suits so they can hide their glee?

    ...
told, I was standing in an emergency ward for fourteen hours that week. (Preexisting condition makes sitting next to impossible.)

    That's a drag..

*Fit* to be dragged, more like it. <Cha-G>

pay-to-stay-alive system might not be so bad. But most of
my health trouble ha > been iatrogenic in nature,

That's scary.. You wonder about the 'do no harm'..

Three cases that I could prove in court, and counting. Their legal 'slush fund' is so prosperous, they could tie it up in appeals until I'm too dead to spend any reward. What'er you gonna do, eh? (Can you tell you're talkin' to a Canadian now? B-)

    ...
hehe.. "pay to stay alive".. Great term for the nonsense that is called insurance in the USA <grin>. I submitted another claim for
physical therapy my neurolgist ordered .. The bill is for
over $450. While it's covered under our plan, the bill
went to my deductible. So we have to pay it. What a lark.
It's not enough that the ampyra cost is $1100/month, why
would they apply that to my deductible. They might have to
    pay for something <grin>

    Now I *know* I'm talkin' to a Yankee. <G+D>
