  • Areas.bbs question

    Hello everybody!

    I'm getting this error when echosbbs runs. I would like not to need the areas.bbs file and have the settings set as displayed below. What is set wrong, I don't want to use or need that file.

    2025-09-22 07:35:56 Could not open Area File (/sbbs/data/areas.bbs): No such file or directory
    2025-09-22 07:36:36 Could not open Area File (/sbbs/data/areas.bbs): No such file or directory
    2025-09-22 08:04:46 Could not open Area File (/sbbs/data/areas.bbs): No such file or directory
    2025-09-22 08:20:44 Could not open Area File (/sbbs/data/areas.bbs): No such file or directory

    "Automatically Add New Subs to Area List No
    and
    Allow Nodes to Add Areas from Area List No"

    Nothing is set wrong. Just create a 0-length data/areas.bbs file and that log message won't be displayed.

    That's not an error-level log message (just "Notice" level). You can ignore it, or create a 0-length areas.bbs file.

    I don't know, but you should probably realize that whatever you did with ChatGPT, you're now sending out two copies of every message you post, with a tiny bit of the message body altered and different MSGIDs.

    That's not from ChatGPT, the first one didn't go out so I copied it again and fix he reason it didn't go the first time, so it sent both.. My bad..

    While I see that DM has told you how to operate without an areas.bbs
    file..., I'm curious as to why you don't want to use it?

    No really reason, I was just looking to clean up my directories of files I don't need.
