After reviewing the wiki on migrating Synchronet, I removed and did a fresh install on my Linux Mint VM. After the install I set it up slightly with scfg. I then copied my data, ctrl, node*, text, mods, and xtrn directories. After that when I ran scfg again, nothing was updated, everything was the way it was before I copied the directories. Am I missing something, why is Synchronet not reading the newer files?

What do you mean about setting it up "slightly"?
I migrated my Synchronet BBS from Windows to Linux a few years ago
(also with Linux Mint), and I actually found it fairly smooth. I
didn't do any pre-setup with SCFG; I simply copied my Synchronet
directory tree over to my Linux setup. I made sure I set the needed environment variables (I set SBBSROOT, SBBSCTRL, and SBBSEXEC), and Synchronet was able to find its configuration & everything. In SCFG, I just had to change the command lines for the doors & such (for
instance, not running .bat files & such), changed paths to ensure they were correct, etc.

Did you already have a install of SBBS on your Linux? If you did, did you just copy your Windows SBBS directory over to and on top of the Linux setup?
From what I remember, I think I closed the Git repository in Linux and built the executables, then copied over my ctrl, text, mods, and xtrn directorie & such. I may have just replaced the stock Linux directories with what I had from Windows, so all my configuration files and data files from xtrn and menu files & everything were there.

What I have done is a complete re install from the git respo and the a "make" after that I hace copied my data, ctrl node*, text, mods, and xtrn directories. once that's done I run scfg, when I do that, none of the copied setup is in the new SBBS. I don't understand why it's not useing the copied infor. I have even on a new install just copied my sbbs directory tree from my Windows setup over, and the same problem. Doesn't make sense.
