Just want to butt in here and leave a, "Hello" as well from central Iowa, United States! Just my first time logging in here and I wanted to make sure I have everything (namely outgoing) set up correctly.
I started running synchornet in 1999-2000.
I still don't know how to work it. I don't even know how to login half
the time. it's too complicated; it's for programmers.

netbsd was easy for me to get up on it's feet and
have internet connectivity. it's not something i'd want
to use on a regular basis.
their installation process does not suck.

Some assembly required. Not for the casual user.

Matters little if you quit after that. Better to cut your losses and
move on though, rather than waste more time trying to use it.
